Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Orioles play in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the Eastern Division of the American League (AL). It was one of the eight founding franchises of the league when it was created in 1901 by President Ban Johnson. The franchise operated for one year as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis, Missouri to become the St. Louis Browns.
After 52 years in St. Louis, the franchise was purchased in November 1953 by business interests led by Clarence Miles. The franchise officially moved to Baltimore for the 1954 season and adopted the historic name of the Orioles in honor of Maryland's official state bird.
The Orioles won 3 World Series, in 1966, 1970 and 1983. They have also amassed 9 Division. titles in their history.
Note that the Orioles' owner, Peter Angelos, is a Baltimore lawyer born in 1929. He is still the majority owner of the franchise at 90 years old.
