The National Hockey League was born in 1917 in Montreal, Canada.
It gathers 31 franchises (soon 32) divided between the U.S.A. (24 teams) and Canada (7 teams).
As for the NFL and the NBA, the season is divided in 2: the regular season and the Playoffs.
The Playoffs see the 12 best teams in the regular season play as well as 4 teams qualified via the Wild Card system.
The Montreal Canadiens are the most successful franchise in the history of the NHL, even if the last title dates from the 1992-1993 season.
