Real name Derek Sanderson Jeter, Derek was born on June 26, 1974 in Pequannock, New Jersey. He is the first born of two children. Derek and his younger sister, Sharlee, both grew up in a family with a passion for sports. His father Charles was a psychologist who worked with people with addictions. Derek's career
Derek spent his first 4 professional years in the minor league. He was named the South Atlantic League's Most Valuable Player in 1993 with 5 home runs, 71 runs batted in and 18 stolen bases. In the 1994 season, he was also named the minor league player of the year, with 5 homeruns, 68 runs, 50 stolen bases and a .344 batting average.
In 1996, he moved to the Major League where he played as the Yankees' starting shortstop. After more than 150 games, he collected 10 home runs, 78 runs batted in and a .314 batting average. Through this performance, he earns the Rookie of the Year award.
From the 1997 season to the 2014 season, Derek wins a lot of games, breaks many records like Lou Gehrig's. He set records that have not been broken to this day.
