Spalding is a sports equipment manufacturer founded in 1876 in Chicago, Illinois.
The company's slogan is "True to the game".
Originally specializing in baseball (balls and gloves), it is now a major player in volleyball, American soccer and of course basketball.
In 1884, Spalding created the first basketball in the world, at the request of Dr. James Naismith.
Since then, it has reigned supreme in the world of basketball, becoming the official ball of the National Basketball Academy (the NBA) in 1983 and the official ball of the Euroleague in 2012.
